Halloween Games - Great Games to Play at Halloween!
To liven the Halloween gathering there are many Halloween games. Halloween
pranks, Halloween activities and Halloween party games are all part of
the fun filled holiday of Halloween. For weeks – nay for months folks plan to make the Halloween party something to
remember.
The Spooky Walk game is akin to musical chairs but without the pushing and tripping. On a table is laid out cut
out images of spooky figures like pumpkins, cats or witches and bats. There should be as many cut outs as the
number of children. For the sake of convenience the images could be numbered like Jack O’ Lantern 1 and Jack O”
Lantern 2. While slow music is being played the lights are dimmed and the children go round the table. When the
music suddenly stops they make a grab for a cut out. In a jar there are the bits of papers with the numbers. A lot
is drawn. The one who has the number drawn is out of the game and goes out with the cut out. The last one not out
wins the game.
There are many Halloween games for children and adults. For ‘Pumpkin bowling’ collect soda water bottles well
ahead of Halloween. Paint it white with black fierce eyes with red eyeballs. Fill the bottles with pebbles or
gravel so that they stand. Now divide the children in groups and start the bowling using small pumpkins as
balls.
The children can be made to sit down to a competitive game of decorating pumpkins. The little ones will have a
ball splashing around with paint and craft materials.
Well ahead of the party cut out witches from black marble paper and hide them in convenient places. Leave a
trail of hints and watch the children rush to find the black beauties. The one with the greatest number of witches
wins the first prize. The same game can be played with small pumpkins or toy spiders.
In the ‘Trick or treat game’ cards are put inside a cauldron and the children put their hands in draw a card to
find out if they have been tricked or treated. The Halloween games include Halloween versions of the Bingo with
special Halloween horror themes to tickle the nerves. When the excitement dies
down one can sit down quietly and start telling spooky Halloween stories. It
is like a relay race with whichever side ending the story winning the game if the other side fails to carry it on.
For young and old there are card games, picture puzzle games interspersed with the fun of picking up the bobbing
apples with the mouth only.
For adults there are brain-teasing games. For instance each side asks the other questions about Halloween. While
playing one gets to know a lot about the history and tradition of Halloween.
For physical rough tough games the players can lie down in a ring with the feet of one touching the head of the
other. A pumpkin is tossed about. Whoever drops has to leave the ring.
The witch prickling devil’s game starts right from the start of the party. Dress up a doll as a witch and place
a devil’s scar on any part of the witch. Now cover it well and place it near the entrance. Let each one prick the
witch with a pin to which has been tagged the name of the guest. At the end of the party the covering of the witch
is removed and whoever has pricked the devil’s mark is the clear winner.
These and many other Halloween games may be included or innovated by creative minds to add the zest to Halloween
shudders.
